Are you enlisted as a RUG or Hanze student? Would you like to learn how to dive, or is it already your hobby? Or would you prefer to first try it out, before fully diving into it? At G.B.D. Calamari, you can do this entirely free of charge! Even if you already have a diving certificate it's still fun to take a plunge in the swimming pool!
The introdives are planned in advance of the start of the diving courses. Training for the 1*/Open Water certificate starts in October/November. More information regarding the certificates, training and costs can be found on our website.
Before the introduction dive there'll be a short instruction about the gear, things to pay attention to during your first dive and of course an impression of all the things you can see while diving in the Netherlands! If you're thinking, 'awesome!', after the introduction dive, you'll have no other choice than to become a member of our student diving club! You'll be able to get your diving certificate, with which you can dive all over the world! We also offer the possibility to continue your diving training to higher levels.
Important! To be able to join an introduction dive, you'll have to be able to become an ACLO member! An ACLO membership is required to become a member of G.B.D. Calamari. If you're not sure if you can become a member of G.B.D. Calamari, contact the secretary.
For the introduction dive you'll only have to bring swimming supplies to the Willem Alexander Sportcentrum at the Zernike complex. We'll take care of the rest of your gear.
The 1* (open water) training starts every year in November. That is why we organise intro dives for students without a license in September. Unfortunately, it is not possible to start the 1* course during the rest of the year. However, you can become a swimming member or underwater hockey member. Therefore, it is never a problem to join us for a training to get to know us. Mail the secretary to make an appointment.
Students who are already in possession of a diving license can become members throughout the year. The 2* (advanced) course starts in the spring and can possibly be followed immediately, just as the 3* (master diver). Mail the secretary to get acquainted with the association during a swimming pool training or as a guest on a diving weekend (look in the calendar for the dates).
Enroll for an introdive and get to know our association. If you already know how to dive it is also possible to join for "regular" training on one of these dates. Let us know if you want to join for a regular training by email. All introduction period activities can be found in the calendar.
